Pulse and Press Disturbances on Estuaries

My research focuses on the effects of press (urbanization) and pulse (bushfire) disturbances on estuaries. I am assessing the impact of the 2019-2020 bushfires season on estuaries here in New South Wales. Apart from occasional reports following fire events, there is not much scientific information about the short- and long-term effects of bushfires on estuaries. My project will provide much-needed information on how these events – which are likely to increase in frequency and intensity – affect our estuaries, filling an important gap in the knowledge.
