Underwater gardens on artificial substrates: a tool for conservation of biodiversity.
I’m researching the ecology of, threats to, and restoration of soft coral in temperate and subtropical NSW. Most recently I have been studying the effects on soft corals of the recent marine warming and bleaching event at Lord Howe Island, NSW in early 2019 by examining bleaching markers and holobiome changes. I am also studying the endangered temperate soft coral Dendronephthya australis in Botany Bay, NSW, where I am helping to inform future restoration efforts in Sydney Harbour. Overall, my research aims to increase in our understanding of this amazing yet understudied group of marine creatures.
