This project aims to define and develop bacterial consortia that have beneficial effects of the growth, health and environmental adaptation of macroalgal species.

Students will have access to the large culture collection of algal associated bacteria to define and characterisation microbial traits that protect algal from disease, assist in their adaptation to anthropogenic stressors and enhance growth. We will also investigate how beneficial microbiota are maintained and inherited within macroalgal populations.
